Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
I have a BFA from Wayne State University (go Tartars! IYKYK) and was fortunate enough to jump right into the exhibit industry while I was still in college. It all started at a small sign shop in Wayne, a spin-off from the old D & E days (Display & Exhibit Specialties Co.) – and I haven’t stopped since.
Each morning starts with a detailed to-do list…and by 9am it’s out the door and I’m winging it. My daily tasks can include rough sketches or booth concepts to kick off some ideas after talking with the sales team and client. The next round usually includes graphic layouts and presentation renders with my thoughts called out, so that the client understands my vision and direction. I’m also the person who provides the electrical, hanging sign, rigging and lighting floor plans for the show orders that the administrative team takes care of. Anything that the shop needs to build (Kelly), needs a detailed drawing with sizes and materials listed (after a little back and forth team brainstorming of course).
My absolute favorite thing to do is to be one of the first people on the trade show floor before the show officially opens. The calm before the storm. I try to get there early before all the traffic and noise starts, so I can take a step back and appreciate all of our hard work and coordination. Plus – it’s all about the beauty shots!
The vibe over at Lindsay Exhibit Group is pretty chill. We each know what part of the puzzle is our responsibility to complete, and it all comes together in the end. If someone needs help or has questions along the way – there is always someone ready to jump in and assist.
I really do enjoy what I get to do each day and the team that I get to do it with!
